pouches – hay bath
Hay therapy is one of the amazing natural therapies. Natural medicine was once a very popular method of maintaining health, which was popularized by Sebastian Kneipp in the 19th century. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the 19th century there was a decline in interest in natural medicine caused by the rapid development of chemical substitutes which, as we know, have extensive and profound side effects that are not talked about much. Nevertheless, many doctors and researchers continued to promote natural therapies. In the 1970s, German researchers Frochlich and Müller-Limmroth recalled and researched natural therapies, including hay therapy as an effective healing and relaxation method. They proved that hay treatments have a calming effect on the autonomic nervous system and thus normalize the functioning of internal organs. They also increase the regulatory and defensive abilities of the body. The pharmacological effect of hay depends on many factors – its composition, soil, sunlight, level of pollution, mowing period (the best is from the first mowing due to the rich floristic composition). The herbs and hay come from the cleanest region of Poland – Masuria, from the Natura 2000 region, from my own meadow. The hay includes chamomile, field poppy, vetch, plantain, dandelion, sweetwort, horsetail. The hay contains a number of medicinal ingredients, including: flavonoids, coumarin derivatives, furanocoumarin, esculin, hydroxycoumarin, including umbelliferone (7-hydroxycoumarin), mucous compounds with disinfectant, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anti-putrefactive properties, organic acids, volatile oils, glycosides, alkaloids, enzymes. Free coumarin is produced during hay drying, under the influence of enzymes (β-glucosidase). During a hay bath, coumarin is absorbed through the respiratory system and, to a small extent, through the skin
