Fenugreek – According to literature, fenugreek seeds have properties that have been used to alleviate the following ailments:
- it has a protective and anti-inflammatory effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa, therefore it is used in peptic ulcer disease.
when applied externally to the skin, it has an anti-inflammatory effect, so it is used in skin inflammations (boils, eczema, abscesses), - fenugreek seeds can also lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels,
- it is also believed to have anti-inflammatory, choleretic, antispasmodic, well-being-enhancing, cholagogenic properties, stimulating the secretion of pancreatic, gastric and intestinal juices, strengthening, improving food absorption, regulating bowel movements, stimulating the regeneration of all tissues, activating hemopeosis (fenugreek is a natural activator of blood cell production processes) , lactic, diuretic, antiallergic, anabolic.
- due to its nutritional value, it is sometimes used in the treatment of anorexia.
A METHOD OF PREPARING:
It is a recognized ingredient in vegetarian cuisine because it adds an extraordinary scent to vegetable and tofu dishes. Roasted and ground fenugreek can be used to season cooked carrots, beans, baked potatoes, celery, broccoli or cauliflower cutlets, but also egg dishes and vegetable soups. Suitable for flavoring yogurt and cottage cheese dips, it is an excellent addition to yogurt-based salad dressings. It is perfect for hummus made from cooked legumes, i.e. pastes made from cooked beans, chickpeas, broad beans and lentils. Young fenugreek leaves and seed sprouts can be added to salads as a flavor addition. In some countries, fenugreek seeds are soaked in water and then boiled, after which they are served as porridge. Fenugreek seeds are used as a seasoning for some cheeses as well as spicy curry sauces.
Decoction of 1 tablespoon of powdered seeds pour 1 cup of lukewarm water, then simmer covered for 3 minutes. Drink while still warm, several times a day.
Mix 50-100 g of seeds with a small amount of water until it becomes a paste. Then add 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar, mix again, warm slightly, spread on the canvas.
