Black cumin is also called garden black cumin, green lady, Egyptian black cumin and black cumin. It is a delicate annual plant with white or blue flowers from the ranunculus family Ranuncullaceae, which reaches up to 40 cm in height.
The plant contains about 40 percent. oil, which consists of unsaturated fatty acids: oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid. Black cumin seeds are also rich in nourishing ingredients. They contain many active substances, including: phospholipids and phytosterols, flavonoids, saponins, tannins. Black cumin also contains fatty acids, proteins and carbohydrates, as well as vitamins (A, E, B1, B3, B6) and minerals: zinc, selenium, magnesium, calcium, iron, sodium and potassium. The seeds also contain an essential oil that produces a strong aromatic scent and spicy taste.
